Dear Librarians :
We’ve revamped the CRAN site to help you stock your library shelves with releases by Canadian romance authors, including a list of members' books that have been translated into French. Our map on the main page and the convenient links provided below to romance writers groups across the country will assist you in locating authors in your area. Most authors are happy to present programmes or panel discussions on writing topics, the various genres of romance and the appeal of romance novels.
You may contact them by following the links to their individual Web sites. Many authors are willing to do an appearance for no fee as long as they are welcome to bring books to sell. If you’re asking an author to travel or drive 45 minutes or more to present a programme, a travel stipend is appreciated.
Please check out our “Current Releases” and the “Set in Canada” pages to find books of special appeal to your patrons. Also, for your convenience, we have listed below authors who have books available in hardcover library editions and in large print. You may find specific titles on their web sites.
Romance Writers of America, the national professional organization for romance writers, has a special page for librarians on their web site. They have a special newsletter just for you called, "Checking out Romance." You can also sign up to receive Romance $ells, RWA's quarterly publication free to librarians and booksellers. To receive a copy, email your request to the RWA Office. Be sure to include the name of your library and complete mailing address.
Lastly, please support your Canadian authors by ensuring that their romances are catalogued in your branch. Many romance authors miss out on Public Lending Rights because their books are not catalogued. Last year authors received approximately $34 per hit for each copy of their titles found in the libraries that were surveyed.
The Cran site is updated monthly. Please pass on the url to other branches in your region.
